Introduction
Every product starts with a frustration someone refused to accept. Excruit started with hiring.
Not the idea of hiring, the actual, everyday reality of it. Watching HR teams spend entire weeks on work that had nothing to do with judgment. Writing job descriptions from scratch every single time. Scrolling through hundreds of resumes looking for the same five signals. Sending the same follow up message to candidate after candidate, most of whom would never reply. None of this required expertise. It just required time, and there was never enough of it.
The Problem We Kept Seeing
Across companies of every size, the pattern looked identical. HR teams were spending over 25 hours a week on tasks that added no real value beyond getting them done. Roles sat open for 45 to 60 days on average, not because good candidates did not exist, but because the process to reach them was too slow. And somewhere between 65 and 70 percent of candidates dropped out along the way, not because they lost interest in the role, but because nobody followed up in time.
The tools built to fix this only made the problem more organised. Applicant tracking systems gave HR teams a better place to store the work they were still doing manually. Nothing actually executed the work for them. We kept asking the same question. What if the software did not just track hiring, but actually ran it?
Building an AI Copilot, Not Another Dashboard
That question shaped everything about how we built Excruit. We did not want to build a system that recruiters had to operate all day. We wanted to build a copilot that operated the system, and only asked for a decision when a decision actually mattered.
So Excruit takes a role from a plain language description all the way to a scored, ranked shortlist, writing the job description, sourcing candidates from your own database first, sending personalised outreach, running live AI phone screens, conducting adaptive AI interviews, and scoring every applicant along the way. Your team steps in exactly once, to review the shortlist and decide who moves forward. That is the one part of hiring that should always stay human.
Building It Responsibly, From the Start
We also knew that automating hiring meant handling real people’s data at scale, across regions with very different rules. So compliance was never an afterthought bolted on later. GDPR, DPDP, CCPA, LGPD, and the Australian Privacy Act are managed automatically within the product, and every candidate who goes through an Excruit interview receives a Right to Explanation report, so the process stays transparent on both sides of the table.
Why This Matters Now
Hiring should not require a full team to move at a reasonable pace. With Excruit running the execution layer, HR managers get 10x recruiting capacity, time to fill drops to 15 to 25 days, and candidate drop off falls below 20 percent, all without adding headcount.
We built Excruit because hiring deserved better than another dashboard. It deserved a copilot that actually does the work, and trusts people to make the decisions that matter.
That is still why we build it today.
